Art Robbery.

Eighteen paintings were stolen from 1421 Dauphine street, New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday February 2, 1995.

Seeing Stars  The Extreme Ideas That Drive Society

Abstract Landscape #9 Driftnet  Everything Seems to Rush Past

Classical Drawings  Classical Painting

Evolution and Thermodynamics  A Graph of Orgasm

The restrictions can't hold it back

Weirdest fucking crime I have experienced. They left the boxes in the yard. They ran away with framed paintings in their hands. 18 of them.

Un fucking believable. I posted "wanted" posters and made a report to the smirking police. I asked galleries and pawn shops. One gallery director told me that someone had come by with a trunk load of paintings but he would not look at them.

I was living in New Orleans for the winter; I was trying to crack into the gallery business there. I only brought my best paintings. This was a setback for years.

I think they are still alive. If someone went to the effort to take them, I don't think they would cut them up.

I can only hope some people are enjoying the art right now.
